About:

We are four students here at the The University of Carolina at Charlotte, currently in UWRT 1104. In this class, we have recently started learning about speech communities. A speech community is a group of people, or something throughout your life that has effected your speech. With that being said, we have realized that each one of us comes from many different backrounds that have effected our own language, word choice, dialect or accent. Because of this, we know that UNCC's speech community is so diverse. On this website we wanted to share some experiences with our own speech communities to not only show how it has effected each one of us individually, but also how we contribute to UNC Charlotte's speech community as a whole. We also wanted to add a page with other resources such as articles and how they are helpful when understanding speech communities, to give you guys more information about speech, language, and dialects. If you would like to see more information, go to our pages titled "Map" or "Reader's Guide" or simply click below!
