"Southern American Dialect"

I believe that this article "Southern American Dialect" by C. M. Wise is very important to our group when talking about speech communites because it shows that where you are from does effect your dialect. Throughout this artice, the author talks about different vowels and pronnunciations of words you will hear from someone living in the South. I believe that C. M. Wise is trying to explain to anyone interested in different dialects, that there is many different ways of pronouncing words. For example, Wise mentions how Southerners usually do not pronounce the "r" sound when saying their words, when in other regions of America they do. Another example he writes about is how people down South usually would use the "n" sound rather than "ing." I think it was interesting this was mentioned because I also talked about this specific example in my own speech community essay because I tend to do this too.
